About MuayThai

Around the years 1238-1408, Thailand capital was located at Sukhothai. During that time, Sukothai often fought with its neighbour. Skill such as kicking, kneeing, punching and elbowing were developed. So, MuayThai was created. Muay Thai was a higher art and was a part of royal curriculum. According to some resource, this era is Sukothai era. From era to era, MuayThai is used as self-defense and teached in military. On King Narai Era (1604 - 1690), MuayThai became a profesional sport. Even on King Prachao Sua Era (1697 - 1709), King himself gone for fight on the arena and win after 3 good fighters, they were Nai Klan Madtai (killing fist), Nai Yai Madlek (iron fist), and Nai Lek Madnak (hard fist). Pre-Fight Ritual When entering the ring, fighter use Mongkon on their head and Pong Malai around their necks. Mongkon is represent the gym, it is essentially a crown. Naka Bid Hang

Hanuman Hak Dan

This Kon Muay is using used both of the elbow and the knee at the same Time. It is the close distance of fighting. The attacker throws the right punch to the defensive’s chest or throws the swinging elbow to the chest. The defensive steps the left foot out and steps close to the body then throws the left elbow and strikes the knee or the socket at the same time throws the elbow to the chin. If the attacker throws the left of fist or elbow do the same as above in the opposite directions.

Lom Khun Thuan
